In the 2015/2016 school year, 553 students from four Bolesławiec kindergartens, five lower-secondary schools, two upper-secondary schools, and two primary schools—from Kruszyn and Raciborowice Dolne—registered for the project. Registration on the New Horizons Film Education website is open until 16 October; it is worth taking advantage of these monthly meetings with ambitious cinema.

This is an important and interesting programme that the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre has been running continuously for eight years, since October 2008. The main part of the project is a programme of monthly cinema meetings during which young people watch films selected and grouped into thematic cycles. Each teacher receives teaching materials containing lesson plans for Polish language, cultural studies, history, civics and class meetings. The film is preceded by an interesting introduction.

The project has received the patronage of the Minister of National Education and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, as well as recommendations from several regional education superintendents. It is also supported by acclaimed directors and actors: Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi and Jerzy Stuhr. In 2012, the project received the Polish Film Institute Award in the “Young Audience Education” category.

Schools taking part in the project will be promoted and featured on the Istotne.pl portal and in the newspaper, because this approach to education is worth supporting and highlighting.
