B.org: How many of you were there?
Damian: Two groups, about 20 people in total. Some bragged to the others that they had trashed the cemetery.
B.org: And you tore out the plaques because you wanted to show off?
Damian: We were a little drunk, so we wrecked those plaques. That is the only reason. I feel stupid about it now. If I had not been drunk, I would not have done it.
B.org: The police have already questioned you. Are you afraid?
Damian: Yes. I am most afraid that I will get a probation officer. There were people among us who had been convicted, so things may be worse for them.
B.org: Who are your friends?
Damian: Some of them come from dysfunctional families. They do not have much to do. It is boring. If there were more events like Rock Blok at BOK, maybe we would have something to do.
B.org: Don’t you have any?
Damian: We don’t. Nothing interesting happens. There is only some concert from time to time.
B.org: You are not yet 15. Where did you get alcohol?
Damian: I can buy it wherever I want.
B.org: Without any problem?
Damian: I am telling you, everywhere.
B.org: But you do not look like an adult.
Damian: Sellers do not pay that much attention to appearance. I can also buy drugs without any problem. But that is bad.
B.org: Bad? Why?
Damian: Because under the influence of drugs, a person has no control over themselves. But do not ask who sells them, because I will not say anyway.
B.org: Can you buy them at school?
Damian: Not at school, but at school you can find out where they can be bought. But there is a conspiracy of silence; no one will give up the seller. If someone talks, they go after them afterward. A dozen or more against one. You have no chance then.
People will probably shrug their shoulders. “Young people have gone off the rails; they vandalize things out of boredom. We never had this in our day... Everything bad came from the West.” This is the simplest way to avoid responsibility. No one is interested in what young people do every day. Only when something bad happens do people come up with ideas about how to punish these unruly young people. Among them there may perhaps be the seller from the liquor store.
