Filming has begun in Lower Silesia on the new TVP2 crime series “Komisja morderstw”, a joint production of Telewizja Polska and the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The series, starring Krzysztof Pieczyński, Paweł Małaszyński, Małgorzata Buczkowska and Marcel Sabat, will air on TVP2 in autumn 2016.
The twelve-episode series tells the story of a group of police officers from the Unsolved Cases Department. Criminal mysteries from the past affect contemporary cases, entangle people’s lives and alter the course of history, until the secrets hidden in the recesses of Lower Silesian archives are finally revealed.
– Twelve stories that have remained unsolved to this day. The perpetrators of evil have hidden in the darkness of the past, while evidence and murder weapons have disappeared into dusty archives. To deliver justice years later, we must immerse ourselves in the past and understand the logic of a world that disappeared long ago. Each case is a painstaking reconstruction of the blurred traces of old crimes, a duel with their successors in the present day. It is also a story about the dramatic and complex history of Wrocław and Lower Silesia – this is how the series’ screenwriter Krzysztof Kopka describes the production.
Solving mysteries from years ago is the task of a unit colloquially known as the Murder Commission, after the German Mordkommmission. The department investigates, among other things, mysteries involving 1930s Breslau, explores the history of the Cursed Soldiers, delves into the history of the Recovered Territories, analyzes mysterious cases from World War II, examines complicated cases involving 1980s sects, and deals with many other criminal cases that have remained unsolved. Behind every mystery, however, there is always a person, with their weaknesses, shortcomings, desire, madness or love, driving them onto the path of crime.
The unsolved cases from years ago will be investigated by Inspector Alicja Grześkowiak (Małgorzata Buczkowska), Deputy Inspector Maciej Stasiński (Krzysztof Pieczyński) and Aspirant Dominik Hertz (Marcel Sabat). They will be accompanied by the highly intelligent and charming Dr Adam Frejncz (Paweł Małaszyński).
“Komisja morderstw” is the second series after “Głębokiej Wodzie” to be set in Lower Silesia. It will feature mysterious interiors and beautiful Lower Silesian landscapes – filming will take place, among other locations, in Wrocław, at the castles in Kliczków and Książ, in the former Soviet military areas in Krzywa, in Legnica and Ząbkowice, in the Karkonosze and Owl Mountains, at the Milicz Ponds, on Mount Ślęża, at the Julia Glassworks, and at the “golden complex” of RISE near Wałbrzych.
