- HALF MARATHON
- UNIFORMED SERVICES RACE – 10 km
- CASTLE RACE – 10 km
- NORDIC WALKING – 5 km.
BoryRun:
As the festival takes place in Bolesławiec County, considered one of the most militarized areas in Poland, where two large NATO units are located, we have prepared a special category – a 10 km UNIFORMED SERVICES RACE! For everyone who wears a uniform at work or school. This special race category was created thanks to cooperation with BoryRun’s partner, the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec, under the command of Col. Rafał Grzywiński. We invite all uniformed services and uniformed classes.
The uniformed services race is an exceptional competition for the services!
One of the event’s most spectacular highlights will be the 10 km Race in Uniform – a special category for representatives of uniformed services and defense-oriented communities.
Competitors will cover 10 kilometers in full uniform and military boots, significantly increasing the difficulty and requiring not only excellent physical fitness, but also endurance and determination. It is a test of character, strength and professional preparation.
Representatives of the following are eligible to take part in the race:
- the Polish Armed Forces (including the Territorial Defence Forces),
- Military Police,
- Police,
- Border Guard,
- Fire Service (State and Volunteer),
- Forest Guard,
- Prison Service,
- National Revenue Administration (Customs and Tax Service),
- State Protection Service,
- paramilitary formations,
- uniformed classes.
The category aims to integrate uniformed communities, promote physical activity and highlight the role of the services in the state security system. The race is not only a sporting competition, but also an expression of respect for everyday service and readiness to act in all conditions.

The ambassador of the BoryRun running festival is champion Jerzy Skarżyński.
Jerzy Skarżyński is one of the icons of Polish running. An outstanding marathon runner with a personal best of 2:11:42 and a multiple-time representative of Poland in long-distance races. In the 1980s, he competed in the most important international events, including the European Championships and World Cups, and in 1989 won the Warsaw Marathon.
After ending his sporting career, he became one of the most recognizable figures on the Polish running scene – a coach, promoter of healthy running and author of numerous guides.
His books are essential running must-reads – from practical guides and training methodologies to inspiring stories from the life of a marathon runner:
- “Running Through Life” – a comprehensive running guide for every runner;
- “Skarżyński’s Running Training Method” – a system for preparing for marathons and long-distance challenges;
- “On the Run, or A Marathon Runner’s Reflections” – memories and photographs from his sporting career;
- “Run for Your Health, Naturally” – a guide to healthy living, fitness and longevity.
His guides are often called a “running encyclopedia” and to this day serve thousands of people beginning or developing their running journey. As an advocate of smart training and a healthy lifestyle, he has worked with many sports magazines, and his knowledge is valued by runners around the world. (More: www.skarzynski.pl).
Profile of the founder and organizer
My name is Andrzej Stefańczyk. I am the president of the BoryRun Association and work professionally as a radio and television reporter (Muzyczne Radio, TVN24). I am also the founder of the BoryRun Festival.
As a marathon runner, I have completed, among others, 15 marathons, including the world’s largest – the New York City Marathon. I have also earned the Crown of Polish Marathons. I run primarily for recreation, competing with myself. I managed to join the 25% of people worldwide who can run a marathon in under four hours.
I came up with the idea of organizing the BoryRun Festival several years ago, after completing the marathon in New York. As I was leaving Central Park, surrounded by thousands of runners, I thought: “Why not organize a similar race here?” After all, we have excellent conditions, and the trails of Bory Dolnośląskie, one of the largest forest complexes in Poland and Europe, are perfect for running. That is how it all began.
I met with Tomasz Kopczyński, also a marathon runner and director of Kliczków Castle, who told me that they had just withdrawn from organizing equestrian competitions through the forests. That was when the idea of organizing BoryRun was put forward. If horses can run through the forest, people certainly can too. The routes had already been partially marked out; we modified them to make them more runner-friendly. And that is how our story began.
