– We invested a lot of public money in the building of the Powiatowy Zespół Szkół i Placówek Specjalnych, so that the firefighters would not throw us out of the school – County Executive Dariusz Kwaśniewski explained during a press conference.
The local government is considering two options: building a new facility or modernizing the existing one. However, the first option depends on obtaining external funding. – The prospects are not good at the moment – the County Executive admitted. – European Union funds for our voivodeship were divided in a way that makes it difficult for us to carry out our tasks.
It is worth noting that the mayor of Nowogrodziec, Robert Relich, offered the County a building that could house the Special School. However, as the County Executive pointed out, the facility cannot operate outside Bolesławiec. – More than 60% of its students are Bolesławiec residents. It makes no sense to transport so many children to Godzieszów – Dariusz Kwaśniewski stated.
One thing is certain: the students of PZSiPS in Bolesławiec cannot remain in the building on Zgorzelecka Street. – We did everything that could be done there. The building can no longer be modernized. The children will not stay in this school. They will be moved. They simply deserve it – the County Executive added.
