Shortly after the operation began, at around 6:30 a.m., on national road no. 3, at the exit toward Hutnicza Street, officers stopped the driver of a Bova bus for inspection.
It turned out that the 39-year-old resident of Lubin, who was taking night-shift workers home, had more than 0.3 per mille of alcohol in his system. During the inspection, officers also found, among other things, defects in the braking system and the door-closing mechanism, resulting in the vehicle’s registration certificate being confiscated.
An hour later, another traffic patrol on Małomicka Street in Lubin found a 59-year-old resident of Lubin Municipality who was driving a tractor while intoxicated. Nearly 0.9 per mille of alcohol was detected in his system.
At the same time, in Ścinawa, officers from the Traffic Division stopped a 39-year-old resident of Wołów County for inspection. She was taking her daughter to classes at a lower secondary school. The woman committed an offence by driving a passenger car while intoxicated, as she had more than 0.6 per mille of alcohol in her system.
Such operations are primarily intended to remind all drivers that anyone who gets behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol poses a real threat to themselves and to the lives and health of other road users. Even the smallest amount of alcohol in the body reduces the ability to drive a vehicle.
The police remind drivers that driving a vehicle while intoxicated is punishable by up to 2 years in prison.
