In “Hugo and the Ghost Hunters,” the main character, eleven-year-old Tom, is terrified of ghosts. However, one day in the basement of his home he meets a gelatinous green ghost named Hugo. The strange creature would very much like to be scary, but he is not very good at it because he is a good-natured bungler. The poor fellow had to leave the home where he had previously tried to scare people because an ancient spirit of cold had taken over the place. The intruder poses a threat to the entire city, which may soon become one enormous block of ice. The only way to stop the beast is to cooperate with Leokadia Parzydło—a fearless officer of a secret agency of professional ghost hunters that protects the world from evil forces. Tom, Hugo and Leokadia will form a team the likes of which neither this world nor the afterlife has ever seen...
“Karbala” is the latest film by Krzysztof Łukaszewicz, revealing the behind-the-scenes story of the Polish mission in Iraq. Based on true events, the film tells the story of the heroic defense of the City Hall by Polish and Bulgarian soldiers.
Those were four days of hell… The Iraqi city of Karbala. 2004, in the middle of the Gulf War. An important Muslim holiday, Ashura, is beginning. Al-Qaeda and al-Sadr militias attack the local City Hall—the headquarters of the loyal authorities and police, where detained terrorists are also being held. Eighty Polish and Bulgarian soldiers repel their successive furious attacks, with supplies of food and weapons for only 24 hours of fighting. They lose contact with their base, and no one knows when support will arrive. Having fired almost all their ammunition and reduced to starvation rations, they kill more than one hundred attackers without losing a single soldier. They win the greatest Polish battle since the Second World War.
