Back then, that is, sometime before 1953. Everything that happened afterward only gets on one’s nerves. A grumpy old man stumbles while descending to the cellar somewhere in the Finnish countryside. Rehabilitation awaits him at one of the hospitals in Helsinki. This turn of events does not suit him for four reasons: he will have to take a taxi, he will not be able to serve soup to his wife, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, he does not drive himself, so there is a risk of a ride with the old lady at the wheel. And he will have to spend time with his family. Including his daughter-in-law.

His daughter-in-law is a modern woman of success. She is not fond of the old man, who can do nothing but complain. The prospect of looking after her father-in-law is all the more troublesome because she has a task ahead of her—to close a deal with Russian businessmen. Someone is sure to get very upset…

Running time of the film: 104 min.
