Recently, I was walking through the city streets during the Ceramics Festival and noticed that a sheet of metal was missing from the cladding of the town hall tower’s roof (the dome above the lantern). I wonder whether this was caused by strong winds or deliberate conservation work, because if it was caused by severe weather conditions, residents of the Market Square and passers-by could be at risk of injury or even death.
From the south-western and western sides, wooden beams and an open space are clearly visible instead of metal cladding.
Indeed, as we managed to establish, a piece of sheet metal was removed and secured, and the town hall tower roof will soon be renovated. Nevertheless, municipal spokesperson Agnieszka Gergont assured us that no one was in any danger.
