Municipal police officers were sent to the scene. Until then, the girl had been looked after by a shop employee. The 6-year-old had no visible bodily injuries; she was wearing wellington boots.
The officers established the girl's probable home address. No one opened the door at the address. Nevertheless, neighbors confirmed that the child lived there.
They also established the workplace of the 6-year-old's father. The municipal police officers managed to contact him; the man came to the station to collect his daughter and explain the situation.
As it turned out, the 6-year-old was supposed to be in her mother's care at that time. Municipal police officers went to her home again. The mother's condition indicated that she was drunk. The police were called. The officers' suspicions were confirmed. It turned out that the woman had more than 3 per mille of alcohol in her exhaled breath.
Further proceedings in the case are being conducted by Bolesławiec police officers.
Update
The previous day, at around 3:30 p.m., the municipal police duty officer received a report that a woman with a small child was walking along the pavement. She was walking in such a way that the person who reported it began to suspect that she was drunk.
A patrol was sent to the scene. The woman was indeed walking unsteadily, practically staggering. When she saw the municipal police officers, she began to run away, but stopped after a moment.
She did not want to provide any details and was hysterical; she shouted that her child was disabled and suffered from autism. Alcohol could be smelled on her. The police were called.
While they were waiting for the officers, the woman ran into the street herself and began behaving very aggressively.
Further proceedings in the case are being conducted by officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.
