The above-mentioned man was charged with the fact that on August 19, 2015, in Kamienna Góra, seeking to release emotional tension and frustration caused by a situation in no way connected with the victim, by publicly directing aggression—without any rational reason—at a random child who was defenseless, unable to offer any resistance and unaware of the existence of a threat, he struck Kamila C. on the back of the head with an axe, as a result of which she suffered very serious bodily injuries that led to her death.
Questioned as a suspect, Samuel N. confessed to committing the crime of which he was accused. He explained that he was upset because he had been unable to find employment for a month and a half, and on August 18 of that year he received a letter from the County Labour Office stating that he was not entitled to unemployment benefits.
The following day, he therefore put an axe in a shopping bag and went to that office to take revenge on the officials because they had not wanted to find him a job. However, many people were there, so he abandoned his plan.
He went out into the street and wandered aimlessly around the city centre. As he explained, his anger continued to build throughout that time. He therefore took the axe out of the bag, approached a girl who was entering a bookshop with her mother, and struck her in the head with the axe. After the incident, the perpetrator discarded the weapon and began to flee. He was detained by witnesses to the incident and handed over to the police.
Today, the prosecutor will submit a request to the District Court in Kamienna Góra for the suspect to be placed in temporary custody for three months.
In the near future, the prosecutor will appoint psychiatric medical experts to examine Samuel N.’s mental health.
The crime of which he is accused carries a sentence of up to life imprisonment.
