Lake Ryńskie, located in the Masurian Lake District, lies in Giżycko County. The towns of Ryn, Wejdyki, Mrówki and Rybical are situated on the lake. It is a lake that is very popular and beloved by tourists.
About the lake
Interestingly, in fact Lake Ryńskie forms one body of water with another popular lake, Tałty. The boundary drawn between them is conventional. Lake Ryńskie itself is 7 kilometres long, covers 6.7 square kilometres, and reaches a maximum depth of 20.2 metres. There are also three islands on Lake Ryńskie, with a total area of 4.5 hectares. Another interesting fact is that water from the higher-lying lake Ołów flows into Lake Ryńskie. There would be nothing extraordinary about this if not for the fact that the water flows into the lake through an underground canal built in the Middle Ages by the Teutonic Knights. Thanks to this canal, Ryn Castle was constantly supplied with water (today it houses a luxury hotel in Masuria - www.zamekryn.pl)
Tourism
Numerous holiday resorts, individual cottages for rent and campsites can be found along the lake shore. The Masurian Shipping route runs across Lake Ryńskie. From Lake Ryńskie, you can take a trip to Giżycko (via lakes Tałty, Tałtowisko, Szymon, Szymoneckie, Jagodne and Niegocin) or Mikołajki (via Tałty to Lake Mikołajskie). Canoe tourism is also developing very well on Lake Ryńskie.
A holiday by Lake Ryńskie is particularly recommended to anyone wishing to spend pleasant and peaceful time surrounded by picturesque Masurian landscapes. If, however, the weather is poor and conditions are unsuitable for spending time on the water, no one will be bored. It is worth visiting Ryn to see its historic landmarks, as well as the aforementioned Mikołajki and Giżycko, which are nearby and offer many attractions for both children and adults.
