The attempted arson of an apartment in a high-rise building on Bielska Street took place shortly before midnight on Sunday. The couple living in the 11th-floor apartment had no escape route. The door was burning from both the outside and the inside. Fortunately, they managed to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived.
A bottle containing liquid and matches was found in front of the apartment. Police secured evidence to establish who started the fire.
An ambulance, police officers and four fire service units were at the scene. The building was not evacuated, but some residents left the block on their own. Onlookers gathered at the scene said that the woman from the apartment set on fire needed assistance—she apparently had burns from the flames.
