The exhibition features works made from clay, pencil and crayon sketches, pastels, watercolours, oil paintings, and photographs documenting the workshop’s activities. The beginnings of the MDK Ceramic Workshop in Bolesławiec date back to 1995, when the first classes were launched on the initiative and under the direction of Joanna Mysłek-Michnowska. Cooperation was established with Zakłady Ceramiczne „Bolesławiec”, which enabled participants’ works to be fired in the company’s kilns. The company’s support also included the free provision of materials and assistance in organising holiday activities. Although 20 years have passed, this cooperation continues to work very well.
Summer and winter ceramic plein-air workshops became a tradition when it became clear that they were an exceptionally attractive way for participants to spend their free time. An important event came in 2005, when the Workshop participants raised funds through their work to purchase a kiln. During classes with Joanna Mysłek-Michnowska, children and adults alike have the opportunity to learn the principles and secrets of working with clay. The classes also offer the chance to take part in the entire process of creating vessels and sculptures from stoneware clay and chamotte. Numerous prizes and distinctions at the local, national and international levels highlight the high quality and standard of the classes.
