On Friday, 19 June 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to midnight, Pauza na Sztukę – an international festival for children and young people – will take place for the fourth time. Young actors will surprise guests with a rich programme of dance, music and theatre. On that day, they will take over the stage and every corner of the Gerhart Hauptmann Theatre in Görlitz.
This year’s main theme is “freedom”. Preschool, school and youth groups from our three-nation region will present their artistic interpretations of this concept. For example, at 10:00 a.m. on the main stage, we will be able to see the acrobatic musical “Wonderful Freedom” performed by the Mira Lobe School from Görlitz; from 1:00 p.m., students from a school in Liberec will perform a musical and ballet production; and from 9:30 a.m., both traditional and modern songs, as well as young instrumental ensembles, will be heard on the outdoor stage in front of the theatre. At 2:30 p.m., visitors will be able to learn about local folklore and take part in the “Wytnij Hołubca” activity, learning this traditional dance on the theatre meadow.
The music school, together with its young musicians, will perform from 3:00 p.m. Smaller and larger ensembles will be heard on three stages. The foyer stage will feature primarily soloists, duos, trios and quartets. The highlight will be the programme on the main stage at 7:00 p.m., when we will hear the distinguished sound of a young orchestra performing well-known musical pieces, not only classical ones.
At 9:00 p.m., even the theatre corridor will come alive, as an ensemble made up of both younger and somewhat older performers plays a wide variety of traditional African drums. Rhythms from Malinke and Ghana will inspire dancing and relax even the most tense nerves.
The programme will conclude on the outdoor stage at 10:00 p.m. with a performance by the Görlitz Big Band.
Every artist needs an audience, so we are waiting for you! We invite all spectators – young and old. In addition to the performances, artistic workshops will also be available, as they were last year. This year, participants will be able to try their hand at, among other things, photography, a small book-printing workshop and instrument building.
Pauza na sztukę is a project organised by the Meetingpoint Music Messiaen e.V. association in cooperation with the Gerhart Hauptmann Theatre and the Music School in Görlitz.
