For the first round of the league competition, our young athletes had to travel all the way to distant Biała Podlaska.
As usual, the strongest points of our team were the Polish national representatives: Ewa Ochocka and Kacper Olszewski. The athlete coached by Małgorzata Markowska finished third in the 100 m hurdles (14.24 s) and sixth in the 400 m hurdles (60.88 s). The athlete coached by Tomasz Markowski finished seventh in the discus throw (47.06 m) and tenth in the shot put (15.13 m). It should be noted that our young athletes competed in the throwing events using equipment of the kind used by seniors. The same applied to the hurdles, in which Ewa had to clear higher hurdles than those she encounters every day as a junior.

The Bolesławiec team’s league debut was successful. Our athletes scored 1,714 points and took 14th place. The second round of the Senior League will take place in September, on September 12 in Kraków. “We already know that, after being classified in the second round, the club will remain in the Ekstraklasa in 2016. Unfortunately, we could not bring all of our best athletes to the competition, including Maciej Buciak, the silver medalist at the Polish Indoor Championships, and Dominika Kwaszcz, fourth at the Polish Indoor Championships, who are dealing with minor injuries. We decided that competing in the upcoming Polish outdoor championships was more important for them. For all our young athletes, the opportunity to compete in the same event as such athletes as world hammer throw champion Paweł Fajdek, last year’s European bronze medalist in the 800 m Joanna Jóźwik, European U23 champion in the 200 m Anna Kiełbasińska and Kamila Lićwinko, who cleared 197 cm in the high jump, was a major event and experience,” said Tomasz Markowski.
