Starting in June, the mailing of the “Information on the Status of the Insured Person’s Account at the Social Insurance Institution” began. The document will be received by insured persons born after December 31, 1948, who have individual accounts at ZUS. The information covers two years collectively: 2013 and 2014.
It will tell us the amount of the valorized initial capital, provided, of course, that we worked before 1999 and previously submitted an application to have the capital calculated. The “Information on the Status of the Account…” will also tell us how much in valorized pension contributions we have accumulated in our account.
Next, the unvalorized pension insurance contributions for 2013 and 2014 are presented, broken down by individual months. ZUS also provides us with information about the funds recorded in our sub-account, that is, within the second pillar at ZUS. Here, the contributions are divided into those that the employer—or we ourselves, if we run a business—should have paid and those that were actually paid.
A similar breakdown is provided for contributions to open pension funds. The “Information on the Status of the Account…” also shows the sub-account after valorization. It tells us by how much the balance of our sub-account increased after the transfer of 51.5 percent of the funds from our OFE account, which took place in February 2014.
People who turned 35 by December 31, 2014, will also find in their correspondence with ZUS information about the amount of the hypothetical pension payable from the funds accumulated in their ZUS account in the first pillar. An important point: contributions from the sub-account and OFE are not included in the hypothetical pension. The hypothetical pension is presented in two variants. The first is the pension amount we would receive upon reaching retirement age based on the contributions and initial capital accumulated in the account so far. The second is a simulation of what our benefit would look like if we worked until reaching retirement age and paid the average contribution from our previous years of work every month.
The correspondence sent by ZUS will include a helpful attachment that provides a detailed description of the individual items in the “Information on the Status of the Account…”.
Everyone interested in accessing their ZUS account every day and staying up to date should be encouraged to register a profile on the Electronic Services Platform: www.pue.zus.pl.
