At the ceremony, held on Friday, May 8, at the monument to the soldiers of the Second Polish Army, those in attendance included, among others, the full-time member of the Bolesławiec County Board Stanisław Chwojnicki, Bolesławiec deputy mayor Kornel Filipowicz, Nowogrodziec mayor Robert Relich, Bolesławiec Municipality head Andrzej Dutkowski, Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality head Mirosław Haniszewski, Osiecznica Municipality head Waldemar Nalazek, commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, Colonel Paweł Świtalski, Bolesławiec County State Fire Service commander Grzegorz Kocon and deputy head of the Bolesławiec police Artur Krawczyk, as well as veterans, Siberian exiles, soldiers, representatives of the Society of Friends of Lviv and the Southeastern Borderlands, and NSZZ “Solidarity”.

During the ceremony, speeches were delivered by Stanisław Chwojnicki, retired Colonel Hieronim Kosior, chaplain of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, Reverend Captain Tomasz Koczy, and Lieutenant Maciej Smażyk, who read the Roll Call of the Fallen. Importantly, a plaque commemorating World War II veterans was unveiled that day. The plaque reads:

To the veterans of World War II
on the 70th anniversary of victory –
grateful residents of Bolesławiec.

One of the most important elements of Friday’s ceremony was the laying of flowers at the monument to the soldiers of the Second Polish Army. Flowers were laid, among others, by delegations of veterans, Siberian exiles, uniformed services and local government officials.

The event was organized by Bolesławiec County. It was led by Renata Czerwińska.
