In Legnica, 1,231 students completed their education at upper-secondary schools: 831 general secondary school students, including 59 graduates of non-public general secondary schools, and 400 technical school students.
This year, two matura examination systems will be in operation. The old system, based on the requirements set out in examination standards, applies to technical school students, while the new system, testing the level of mastery of the requirements specified in the core curriculum for general education, applies to general secondary school students. Next year, all students taking the matura exam for the first time will already be covered by the new examination system.
Under the new format, a graduate is required to take two oral examinations and four written examinations. Compared with previous years, the format of the oral Polish language examination has also changed. The candidate must prepare a speech on a specific topic, inspired by a randomly selected cultural text, and take part in a conversation with the examiner on a subject related to the speech. The candidate has 15 minutes to prepare for this task.
The matura examination replaces the entrance examination for higher education institutions that use the results of the matura examination in a given subject or subjects—primarily at the extended level—as criteria in the admissions process.
