Silver events are taking place in our city from 28 April to 7 June. Their culmination falls on the weekend of 15–16 May. Each year, the festival presents around twenty individual and group exhibitions by artists from Poland and abroad (23 this year). In addition, it features popular-science sessions, jewellery and fashion shows, competitions and silversmithing workshops, concerts, as well as a range of art activities and happenings in various parts of the city.
“Legnica is loud, colourful and international at that time,” says Justyna Teodorczyk of the Gallery of Art. “In the heart of the city, 1,500 avant-garde jewellery and small-design objects from around the world are on display. But the festival does not belong only to artists. We address all the events to the residents of the city and region, and warmly invite them to attend. The exhibitions will be available in the Market Square, at the following galleries: Gallery of Art, Ring, Pod Przepiórczym Koszem, Niello, Satyrykon and Salonik, as well as at the Copper Museum, LCK and in the foyer of the Old Town Hall (Modrzejewska Theatre). Admission to all festival events is free.
The most important event in the series is the leading exhibition: the International Jewellery Art Competition, titled this year GRANICE/BOUNDARIES. This year’s jury assessed 605 works submitted by 337 artists from 42 countries, selected works for the exhibition and presented awards. The competition winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on 16 May in Legnica.
