Several dozen people took part in the cleanup, including women from the Szczytnica Rural Housewives’ Association. What is more, on April 21, the headmistress of the School and Preschool Complex in Iwiny Elżbieta Koryluk-Sowa arranged transportation for fourth- through sixth-grade students and teachers from the Primary School in Szczytnica, who also joined the campaign.
Since the campaign began, approximately 40 bags of waste have been collected, mainly plastic and glass bottles, disposable bags and food packaging.
On behalf of the housing estate’s residents, councillor Natalia Fekete thanks:
- the headmistress of the Primary School in Szczytnica, Renata Przybylska, as well as the children, young people and teachers
- the head of Warta Bolesławiecka Commune and municipal office employees for providing bags and gloves for the cleanup, refreshments for the students, and transportation to ensure the efficient collection of the gathered waste
- employees of the Municipal Services Plant in Lubków
- employees of the Bolesławiec Forest District
- all participants and organizers of the “Clean Up the World” campaign.
The organizers appeal to the housing estate’s residents and their guests not to litter the areas surrounding the estate. They add:
This is not a garbage dump!!!!! Not only the commune authorities and building administrators, but above all we, the residents, can change our environment—but we must start with ourselves.
We will do everything to make the Szczytnica housing estate shine with cleanliness and order. Only continuous, shared concern for its appearance can bring the desired results.
