The event drew a large audience. Among those attending were representatives of the city authorities: Piotr Roman, Mayor of Bolesławiec; Jarosław Kowalski, Chair of the Bolesławiec City Council; and the initiators of the ceremonial 35th-anniversary celebrations: Jan Filipek, Zbigniew Razik and Józef Pokładek.

Participation in both competitions exceeded the organizers’ expectations. Fifty-eight entries were submitted to the art competition, created by pupils from primary and lower-secondary schools in Bolesławiec. The aim of the competition was to develop children’s and young people’s aesthetic sensitivity and artistic talents, as well as to bring them closer to the history of Solidarność. The jury, consisting of Józef Pokładek, Katarzyna Sas and Edyta Orlińska, awarded the following prizes in the primary-school category: first place to Julia Leśniak, second place to Amelia Nieradka of Primary School No. 5, and third place to Aleksandra Korta of Primary School No. 5. Distinctions went to Olivier Rozmus and Cyprian Maksalion, pupils of Primary School No. 5. In the lower-secondary-school category, only first place was awarded, to Monika Prosół, along with distinctions for Adam Borkowski and Marcel Stachnio, pupils of Lower Secondary School No. 3.

The prizes for the winners were funded by the Local Organization of NSZZ Solidarność in Bolesławiec County. All competition participants received certificates. The awarded works could be viewed in an exhibition in the foyer of CIK and in the form of a multimedia presentation during the ceremony.

Earlier that day, the second edition of the Jacek Kaczmarski Song Review “And the Walls Will Fall…” took place. Thirteen vocalists participated. The jury, consisting of Jan Filipek, Agata Pińczuk–Burdzy, Mirosław Kuc, Aleksander Samostrokow and Małgorzata Niewęgłowska, decided to award the following prizes in the lower-secondary-school category: first prize to Julia Gołębiowska of the First Private Lower Secondary School, prepared by Sławomir Zimniak; Hanna Druzgale took second place, and Dorota Leszczyńska third place—the latter two are pupils of Lower Secondary School No. 2, supervised by Justyna Rapa. Distinctions in this category went to Julia Kwiatkowska of Lower Secondary School No. 2 and Julia Pranić of Lower Secondary School No. 4. In the upper-secondary-school category, the jury awarded second place to Grzegorz Oślak and third place to Kamil Kotlarski, pupils of the First General Secondary School Complex. First place was not awarded. The winners received cash prizes and performed during the winners’ concert at the event.

At the end of the event, the audience had the opportunity to hear an excellent mini-recital by Sławek Zimniak, a musician well known to Bolesławiec audiences.

The competitions were held under the patronage of Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman and the Local Organization of NSZZ Solidarność in Bolesławiec County.
