Teams from 28 schools across the district took part in the competition, including 19 teams from primary schools and 9 from lower-secondary schools.
The competition consisted of three stages. The first two were a test and a ride through an obstacle course. The third took place in a road traffic town, where participants’ ability to ride a bicycle on the road was tested.
The aim of the competition is, among other things, to help improve road traffic safety, including the safety of children and school-age young people, by:
- promoting regulations and principles for safe road use
- developing partnership-based behaviour toward other road users
- promoting basic principles and skills for providing first aid
- promoting the bicycle as a means of transport, as well as for recreation and sport.
Final standings in the lower-secondary school category:
- Gimnazjum Samorządowe No. 2 from Bolesławiec
- Gimnazjum Samorządowe from Nowogrodziec
- Gimnazjum Samorządowe from Osiecznica.
Final standings in the primary school category:
- Primary School from Gierałtów
- Primary School from Nowogrodziec
- Primary School from Kruszyn.
Individually, the most points were scored by primary school student Wiktoria Słabicka from Gierałtów Wiktoria Słabicka and Gimnazjum Samorządowe No. 2 in Bolesławiec student Bartosz Zarówny. The winners received bicycles as prizes.
The winning teams advanced to the district-level stage. The prizes were funded by Bank Zachodni WBK, Carrefour, Tesco, WORD Jelenia Góra and SKOK Stefczyka. The commune head of Gmina Bolesławiec provided a meal for all participants.
