In August, a joint informational publication about Bolesławiec and Česká Lípa, “Let’s get to know each other better. Bolesławiec and Česká Lípa – a European partnership”, will be released. The publication will also include information about cities in various parts of Europe with which Bolesławiec and Česká Lípa cooperate under partnership agreements.

The publication will present the most distinctive places, phenomena and symbols, both those established in residents’ awareness and those that are entirely new. It will contain basic information about the history, historic monuments, economy, tourist and recreational attractions, as well as accommodation and dining facilities in both cities and regions.

An important element of the guide will be a calendar of major sports, cultural, educational and economic events organized on both sides of the Polish-Czech border. The guide will be published in Polish, Czech, German, English and French, with a print run of 6,500 copies. The publication “Let’s get to know each other better. Bolesławiec and Česká Lípa – a European partnership” is part of a larger project carried out by the Municipality of Bolesławiec, financed 75% by the European Regional Development Fund under the INTERREG III A Community Initiative Programme, the Poland-Czech Republic Small Projects Fund; 10% will come from the state budget and 15% from the budget of the Municipality of Bolesławiec. The total value of the project is PLN 62,218.

The project includes the organization of a photographic exhibition. More than twenty photographs will show interesting and beautiful places in Bolesławiec and Česká Lípa. The exhibition will be displayed in Bolesławiec and Česká Lípa. The project also includes the creation of a multilingual website with information about Bolesławiec and Česká Lípa and their foreign partners, with particular emphasis on a calendar of major events and tourist attractions in both regions. The website will be enhanced with interactive and animated elements.

The aim of preparing the multilingual publication is to make it easier for residents and tourists in the Polish-Czech border region to access information about sports and recreational, as well as cultural and entertainment events taking place on both sides of the border. The project will facilitate mutual understanding of the history and traditions of people living in the border region and of the cultural assets combining Polish and Czech cultural heritage, thereby supporting the establishment and strengthening of cross-border cooperation between the communities of Bolesławiec and Česká Lípa. The project will also increase interest among residents of the area covered by the Nysa Euroregion’s activities in our tourist and recreational, cultural and distinctive ceramics offerings.

It is worth noting that developing a comprehensive cultural, tourism and educational information system through publications and broad Internet access is another factor stimulating the development of the region’s tourist and recreational appeal. The applicant and coordinator of the entire project is the Development and Promotion Department of the Bolesławiec Municipal Office.
