The District Crisis Management Centre (PCZK) summarised the effects of the windstorm that passed through our district on 31 March. Our firefighters had their hands full. Eighteen buildings were damaged (the roofs of 11 residential buildings were partially destroyed). The windstorm also tore sheets of metal flashing from the sports hall of Turowa in Zgorzelec. There was damage at one supermarket (a damaged skylight), one of Bogatynia’s shops (a damaged banner) and at a petrol station in Bogatynia.

As a result of the very strong wind, as many as 50 trees were broken, one of which fell onto a moving car. The vehicle’s driver suffered a broken arm. Fortunately, this was the only person injured during the windstorm.

Moreover, nine cars were damaged, as were some power lines, poles and streetlights. Details on the Zgorzelec District website.
