A meeting with Jan Bujak, author of the book “Galicians and Serbs”, will be held on 24 March at 3:30 p.m. at the Orzeł Cultural Integration Centre in Bolesławiec, 17 Chopina Street.
The meeting is being held as part of the “Save from Oblivion” project, co-financed by the Mayor of Bolesławiec במסגרת an open call for proposals supporting the implementation of public tasks by non-governmental organisations. Admission is free.
A few years ago Jan Bujak decided to preserve the history of Polish settlement in Bosnia, where he was born. Based on collected stories, documents, source materials and photographs, the book “Galicians and Serbs” was created, documenting the lives of several generations of settlers.
It is a story about the extraordinary lives of Poles whose fate took them to Bosnian soil, where they lived from 1895 to 1946. There, they established new homes, worked hard, enjoyed the beauty of nature and shared their fate with Orthodox Serbs, Muslim Bosnians and Catholics from other parts of Europe. They greatly longed for their families and their Homeland, whose significance they had not previously appreciated.
