On Monday (March 16), we reported on barrels found in a forest near Świętoszów. The barrels were discovered by a company involved in clearing a former Soviet military training ground of mines. The area was secured by the forest rangers. Unfortunately, it was not possible to determine what the more than 16 100-liter barrels contained. It is known that it is some kind of white powder. The barrels bear warnings in Russian that their contents are dangerous to human life.
Bolesławiec County Governor Dariusz Kwaśniewski asked the Lower Silesian Voivode to send specialist services capable of dealing with the dangerous discovery. Chemical soldiers from Warsaw have already arrived at the forest where the barrels were found. Samples of the substance inside the barrels will be sent to Warsaw, where they will be examined in greater detail. Decisions on what to do with the discovery will also be made then.
