This year’s Creative Open Day, carried out using the artistic and nature-based project method under the name “World of the Senses”, will take place on Tuesday, March 24 at MZS No. 2 (Jana Pawła II Street). It will all begin at 4:00 p.m., and end at 6:00 p.m.
During the event, the school’s open day activities will take place
- parent-teacher meetings from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- theatrical presentations in the assembly hall from 5:00 p.m. (Creative Expression Workshop: a vocal and dance presentation and a theatrical performance).
The idea behind “World of the Senses” is for students to engage creatively with the problem of learning about and experiencing the world through all the senses.
The middle-school students formed groups and then chose an area, region or country that interested them to develop (e.g. Provence, Podhale or Spain). During geography lessons, they gathered knowledge and materials concerning their chosen subject. In accordance with the curriculum, students in grades 1–2 chose from countries and regions around the world, while students in grade 3 presented regions of Poland. Within each group, they divided the tasks among themselves in order to present the selected country or region through the experience of it with all the senses (sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch). During the Creative Open Day, each class will present its “stalls” in the form of a tourism fair.
During art lessons, students in grades 4–6 of the Primary School chose a continent and then created paintings depicting the fauna, flora and culture of the selected place. Later, during nature lessons or homeroom periods, the students of each class analyzed the prepared materials about the chosen continent, creating a joint artwork using the collage technique. During the Creative Open Day, students will present the results of these activities outside their classroom.
The youngest students in grades 0–3, together with their teachers, prepared various offerings, such as:
- an exhibition of books written by students and computer-typed
- an exhibition of three-dimensional spring and Easter artworks.
The program also includes:
- an Easter fair (ground floor)
- world cuisine stalls (ground floor)
- a café
- the Educational Therapy Advice Centre (small building, grade 0)
- an artistic face-painting station (ground floor).
