The documentary Kwatera „Ł” records the work of an exhumation team uncovering the truth about communist murders during the first decade of the Polish People’s Republic (1948–1952). In the summer of 2012, a team of young scientists—archaeologists, anthropologists and forensic doctors—unearthed the remains of soldiers and activists of the anti-communist underground in Poland at Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw. Among those murdered at the prison on Rakowiecka Street were Poland’s greatest heroes: Gen. August Emil Fieldorf „Nil”, Cavalry Captain Witold Pilecki, Major Hieronim Dekutowski „Zapora”, Major Zygmunt Szendzielarz „Łupaszka” and many others. The film also portrays the families of those murdered, who, thanks to the team led by Krzysztof Szwagrzyk, PhD habil., are regaining hope of finding the remains of their loved ones.

Independence Cinema is a project carried out by the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre together with the Bolesławiec „Prawy” Association. Its aim is to provide patriotic and independence-oriented education and bring Poland’s difficult post-war history closer to audiences.
