A new work by acclaimed director Jan Holoubek, creator of, among others, “Rojst” and the recent Netflix hit “Heweliusz”, is currently being made. Scenes for the film, titled “Wild, Wild East”, are being shot in Lower Silesia, among other locations. One of the locations is Perła Żeliszowa, where the filmmakers spent several days in November.

What will J. Holoubek’s new film be about?

As reported by filmweb.pl:

The film is set in 1943 in territories occupied by the Third Reich. The main character is Martin Wolff, a German official sent to a remote village to solve the mystery of a Jewish lawyer’s disappearance. His arrival disrupts the delicate balance that has developed among the village’s war-marked inhabitants, corrupt collaborators and Nazi authorities, and reveals a web of betrayal and greed linked to rumors, passed in whispers, about the lawyer’s hidden fortune. Yet although more dark secrets come to light, Wolff’s investigation may conceal more than it reveals…

The film, which will star Robert Więckiewicz and Joanna Kulig, among others, will premiere next year.
