Among those honored “for outstanding contributions to democratic change in Poland, achievements in local-government work, and activities benefiting local communities” with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta was Danuta Maślicka from Bolesławiec, a doctor of humanities, longtime teacher and director of BOK, an activist in NSZZ “Solidarity” during the Polish People's Republic; poet and writer, and author of, among other works, the book “Znikopis.
