On March 1, Poland observes Remembrance Day for the Cursed Soldiers. On this occasion, a run called “Tropem Wilczym” is organized in many cities. This year, thanks to the Bolesławiec Running Club and the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Company “Commando”, Bolesławiec joined the initiative.
The runners competed on a forest route in the park on Piastów Street. A total of 161 male and female competitors completed the 1,963-meter distance. As always at events like this, many participants arrived with their entire families. After the run, everyone received a commemorative medal. Participants could also try soldiers’ pea soup and roast sausage over a campfire.

Last year, our city joined the nationwide “BiegamBoLubię” campaign. It turned out that Bolesławiec has a large group of runners who take part in competitions and have many great ideas. We decided to make use of this. That is how the Bolesławiec Running Club was established. It currently has 33 members.
“The club organizes trips to competitions, helps others organize them, and will also organize runs in Bolesławiec itself. In addition, it organizes leisure activities through trips, such as rock climbing or rafting,” said Dariusz Łomański, coach of the BiegamBoLubię campaign
“This was the first run we organized. It is no easy task. It required a tremendous amount of effort from all the club members and their families, for which I thank them. Fortunately, we managed to hold the run without any major problems. We will eliminate the minor mistakes we could not avoid, such as those related to organizing the finish, at future competitions,” added Bolesławiec Running Club president Łukasz Król.
Entire families came to the run to cheer or take part. “A wonderful event. You can see that more and more people in Bolesławiec are taking up this form of physical activity, and there is a strong demand for such runs. Hopefully there will be more of them,” said one of the participants.
A running league launches in Bolesławiec in March
“The Running Club wants to organize or co-organize one run per month as part of the Running League. We are particularly keen to attract children, young people, and all those who are still wondering whether running is worthwhile. The runs will be typical amateur and family events. The league will have its own rules, and after it ends, we will try to prepare a summary and present awards to the best runners,” Łukasz Król added.
The organizers thank the following for their support and assistance: the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Company “Commando”, MOSiR Bolesławiec, MZGK Bolesławiec, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Mirosław Seneszyn’s Import-Export Transport Company, ROAN International Transport, Freight Forwarding, Trade, Export and Import Company, firefighters from the Czerna Volunteer Fire Department, the Bolesławiec Starost, and the Head of Bolesławiec Municipality.
