The “Mała Biała” gallery is to become a place where creative attitudes are developed. It will be a place where visitors become interactive recipients of art. Meanwhile, the traditional exhibition format will find its place only in the “W sam raz” gallery (next to the Forum cinema auditorium), where the work of the local artistic community, as well as works by artists from Poland and abroad, will be presented.

Activities at the “Mała Biała” gallery will revolve around issues shaping the contemporary image of the visual arts. The following will be promoted:

  • The work of ceramic artists who actively influence the shape of contemporary ceramics (industrial design, traditional ceramic forms, conceptual work, and all activities that shape the image of ceramics in the broadest sense)
  • The work of performance artists and happening artists who, through their activities, encourage audiences to participate actively in an artistic event
  • The work of artists engaged in traditional forms of creative activity: painting, sculpture, stained glass, printmaking and drawing, who also organize visual arts workshops aimed at deepening knowledge—not so much theoretical as practical—about a given field of art

The “Mała Biała” gallery will also become a place where visitors can gain expert knowledge from art magazines, as well as take a sentimental journey and recall events connected with the organization of the International Ceramic and Sculptural Symposium in Bolesławiec. Catalogues from all editions of the symposium will be made available for this purpose.

The “W sam raz” exhibition hall will serve the local artistic community as a place to present its work. The results of inter-institutional cooperation will also be presented there.

All activities requiring a larger exhibition space will be carried out simultaneously in both BOK-MCC galleries. The “Mała Biała” gallery, however, will remain a place where viewers interact with a work of art and thereby give it new meaning.
“We also want to use participation in art workshops led by specific artists, audiovisual screenings about art, symposia and other activities to engage in discussion about art. This is why the previous character of BOK-MCC’s two galleries is changing,” says Katarzyna Zarówny.
