On Sunday, the European Road Races were held in the center of Bolesławiec. Both adults and children competed for the title of the fastest runner. In addition to the Main Race, there were also VIPs’ Race, Abstainers’ Race and the Family Sports Walk. The start and finish of the races were located in the Market Square. The children’s races began at 10:00. Radosław Augustyn from Nowogród Bobrzański completed one lap around Bolesławiec Town Hall (300 meters) fastest. The next three places went to residents of Bolesławiec. Krzystian Kurzydło from Primary School No. 2, Maciej Buciak from Primary School No. 4 and Kamil Parzyszek from Primary School No. 3 crossed the finish line just behind the leader. Wojciech Kowalski from Bolesławiec was fastest over the 900-meter distance (3 laps around the town hall). In the team classification of primary schools, Primary School No. 4 won ahead of Primary School No. 2 and Primary School No. 3. Among middle schools, Primary School No. 3 was best, ahead of Primary School No. 1 and Primary School No. 2.

The Main Race started at noon. The route, marked out along streets around Bolesławiec Market Square, was 10 km long. Henryk Szost of WKS Oleśniczanka was fastest over this distance. The winner completed the 10 km in 00:31:15. Second and third place went to representatives of Ukraine, Ewgeny Sierotin (time 00:32:23) and Siergiej Zachepa (time 00:32:28). Among the residents of Bolesławiec, Maciej Kalawski was fastest, taking 19th place with a time of 00:37:08.

An abstainers’ race was also held as part of the European Road Races. Sixteen competitors took part. The race route was 900 meters long. In the women’s overall classification, Dorota Wątorek won ahead of Teresa Kowalska and Elżbieta Matyjewicz, all representing the Bolesławiec Abstainers’ Association “Przemiana.” Among the men, Grzegorz Słobodzian of “My razem” Bolesławiec took first place. Dariusz Poluch of the Bolesławiec Abstainers’ Association “Przemiana” came second. Tomasz Piątek of STOP Legnica took third place.

Although the organizer sent out many invitations, only six competitors, including one woman, took part in the VIPs’ Race. Maciej Nelke completed two laps around the town hall (600 meters) fastest. He was followed by Jacek Dudyński, Dariusz Jośko, Jacek Domowicz and Dariusz Pawliszczy. In the women’s category, the only participant, Dorota Pińczuk, won.

In the final event, the Family Sports Walk, the pair Przemek Szurgot and Paweł Żurawiec won. Ewelina Walczak and Magda Jurasik took second place. Joanna and Ola Bojanowski came third. Additional prizes were also awarded to competitors taking part in the European Road Races. Maciej Kalawski was recognized as the best competitor from the Bolesławiec area. Ewelina Walczak was named the best female competitor. Adam Wayda received a special prize in the Disabled category.

The European Road Races were co-financed with European Union funds. The event was organized by the Municipality of Bolesławiec. The Municipal Sports and Recreation Center was responsible for handling the event.
