The aim of Sunday afternoon’s basketball event is to raise funds to purchase an insulin pump for Joanna Plizga, who comes from Chojnów and is one of Ekonom’s leading players. She has struggled with type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes for years.
The event is being held under the patronage of one of the best basketball players in the history of Polish basketball, Adam Wójcik, who has announced that he will come to Chojnów. The organizers are preparing many attractions, including an auction of valuable sports memorabilia, a performance by the Capoeira Esporao Legnica group and a sporting competition.
“We very much hope that the funds raised will help purchase the pump and thus allow Joanna to remain an active player,” say her friends and teammates.
