Arts and crafts at BOK-MCC
During the first week of the winter holidays, arts and crafts workshops were held by Dorota Dziedzic-Lechowska and Katarzyna Zarówny. During the “Gift for Grandma and Grandpa” classes, participants used a variety of materials to prepare presents—fantasy-like trees of happiness made with wire and decorated with colorful beads, as well as greeting cards richly embellished with paper cut-outs. The works surely brought great joy to grandparents on their special day. Meanwhile, during the “Creative Home” workshops, decorative elements were created using various decoupage and collage techniques, as well as painting and drawing.
“Rainbow Worlds” were created during ceramics classes led by Mateusz Grobelny and Edyta Orlińska. The workshop participants were divided into eight groups, which used clay to create a world based on a name they had invented. The works were given a three-dimensional form by placing them on an elliptical mold. In the second stage, each completed form was placed on four tiles, which the children decorated with elements referring to the title they had chosen. After the works are fired, light bulbs will be installed in them, creating bas-relief lamps that will soon be on display in the BOK-MCC foyer.
Activities involving fabric were the main theme of Magdalena Konieczna’s “Button and Loop” classes. Participants learned basic stitches and designed and made patchwork, fabric ornaments and other useful items. They became familiar with the original painting technique of batik, painting on fabric with wax, and also created painted designs on T-shirts. This week, during the “Second Life of Objects” classes led by this talented instructor, recycled materials will be used to create useful items.
The highly popular “At the Fair” arts and crafts classes are still underway. Under the guidance of Stanisława Wojdy-Pytlińska, participants are using a wide variety of materials—cardboard, decorative ribbons, colored paper, sequins and felt—to make beautiful toys, including carts, swings, carousels, rocking horses and lajkoniks. The musical backdrop for the arts and crafts is the song “Colorful Fairs,” known to everyone.
Dance at BOK-MCC
The young participants in “Aerobics for Children” discovered that movement is pure joy. Under the guidance of Agnieszka Podłaszczyk, they performed not only basic gymnastic exercises with elements of rhythmic movement but also learned new movement games. Each day of exercise brought new attractions using props such as ribbons, balls, sticks and balloons, as well as pillows and books.
Students who are not afraid of standing on their heads and performing other acrobatics, and for whom dance is second nature, chose breakdance classes with Paweł Klimek. To begin with, there were rhythm and acrobatics with elements of breakdance, as well as the basics: feeling, toprock and footwork.
Graceful movements and exotic sounds captivated younger and older girls during oriental dance classes with Alicja Kowal. The participants learn and relax at the same time. Dance helps them overcome their complexes and feel comfortable in their own bodies.
Vocal, theater, photography and film activities at CIK Orzeł
Classes at the “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Center are being held until the end of the week. Participants will present the skills they acquired during the holiday photography classes led by Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz and Michał Piaskowski, the theater workshops led by Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz, and the vocal classes led by Agata Pińczuk – Burdzy to a wider audience on January 30 at 6:00 p.m. at CIK Orzeł. We warmly recommend the event and invite you to attend. Admission is free.
Film activities at Forum cinema
Young viewers eagerly took advantage of the films prepared for the first week of the winter holidays. They were attracted by the appealing program and promotional ticket prices. They watched “The Snow Queen 2,” “Where Is Santa Claus?” and “Karolina.” This week, we recommend the fantasy film for young people “Seventh Son,” available in both standard and 3D versions.
