The number of seats for the screening is limited; the film will be shown in the small screening room. “Samba” is a captivating and humorous story about life in a multicultural melting pot, where the simplest things—selfless kindness, the joy of living, solidarity, and the need to love and be loved—turn out to be the most important.
The lead role is played by Omara Sy, known to us from the film “The Intouchables,” which attracted a record audience to cinemas around the world (770,000 viewers in Poland alone), becoming the biggest French film hit of all time. This time, Omar Sy is joined by Charlotte Gainsbourg, in a role completely different from those in which she became known through her collaborations with Lars von Trier.
Samba (Sy) and Alice (Gainsbourg) come from two different worlds. He works washing dishes in a Paris hotel; she is a volunteer who, after years of working in a corporation, decided to reassess her life and help people. When a bureaucratic mistake lands Samba in detention, his dream of a better life falls apart, and, what is more, he faces forced deportation from France. Alice decides to help him at any cost, but to do so she will have to cross not only the boundaries of the law, but also answer the question of where the boundary lies between commitment and a sense of mission and deep feeling…
The film will premiere in the regular programme of Kino Forum from February 20. Detailed information is available on the Kino Forum website.
