The incident occurred on Wednesday (21 January) at an intersection in Osiecznica. The truck driver (a 51-year-old resident of Lubelskie Voivodeship) was driving from the direction of Zebrzydowa (towards Świętoszów) and failed to yield the right of way to the Volkswagen driver travelling from the direction of Kliczków. The 40-year-old, a resident of Żagań County, was travelling with his wife. As a result of the collision, both were taken to hospital. The drivers of both vehicles were sober.
