After last year’s excise tax reduction, fuel prices in our city fell very slowly but consistently. At the beginning of the year, information emerged about plans to build a station next to one of the supermarkets. Following this, petrol prices briefly fell to PLN 3.63 per litre and matched the price of diesel. Unfortunately, it was this cheap for only a few days. After that, prices only went up.
Over the past few weeks, we have observed continuous increases at fuel stations in Bolesławiec. The average price of 95-octane petrol is now PLN 4.27 per litre. Diesel costs an average of PLN 3.87. Autogas rose the least and costs an average of PLN 1.95. The only consolation for drivers may be that fuel prices are rising rapidly not only in our city. According to quotations from the Polish Chamber of Liquid Fuels dated 26 April, the national average price of 95-octane petrol is PLN 4.20. Diesel costs PLN 3.92.
Oil market analysts explain that the European fuel market is fully dependent on the American market. The current increases on global oil exchanges result from the tense political situation in relations between the USA and Iran. Iran is one of the world’s largest oil producers. The threat of American intervention in Iran is causing concern among market players that the country may reduce its supplies to the global market.
