Councillors adopted the salaries. Piotr Roman will earn PLN 12,365, while Dariusz Kwaśniewski will earn PLN 12,337. The city governed by Roman is expected to have revenues of PLN 147 million in 2015. The county office, governed by Kwaśniewski, has only PLN 75 million.

In the city, Roman is assisted by two deputy mayors (together, they all earn approximately PLN 34,000 a month). In Kwaśniewski’s county, he is supported by two full-time members of the county executive board (together, they earn PLN 32,000 a month).

So how is it that managing a county budget half the size costs almost as much as managing the city budget?! Unfortunately, the county’s websites provide no explanation of this situation. The budget information does not even state the amount of revenues or expenditures (sic!). There is a link to a presentation, but it was prepared in PowerPoint… An ordinary Internet user therefore cannot easily find out from the county’s website what budget Kwaśniewski manages or why it costs so much.
