On January 11, 2015, the Orchestra will play in Lubin for the 23rd time. Twenty-three years is a long time! Above all, it represents a huge amount of wonderful work—work that has been done and continues to be done.
This year, together we have the honor of forming the WOŚP headquarters in Lubin. Our team will consist of approximately 200 people involved in the “Great Playing.”
The money collected during the 23rd Finale will be used to maintain high standards of treatment for children in pediatric and oncology wards, as well as to provide dignified medical care for seniors.
On this day, in cooperation with other Lubin institutions, we will organize various attractions throughout the city. The event will begin at Primary School No. 10. Then, as every year, the “Dzieci Dzieciom” concert will take place at the “Muza” Cultural Centre. The finale will be held on the main stage at Cuprum Arena Gallery, where stars such as: Grzegorz Hyży, Ewa Uryga and Brian Fentress will perform.
An undoubtedly unusual attraction will be the “UNDERGROUND COLLECTION” of money among KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. miners working 800 metres underground. A similar initiative will take place at the Sierra Gorda Mine in Chile, where Polish miners will campaign in support of WOŚP.
The theme of each Finale depends on the needs of Polish medicine; nevertheless, the constant idea behind WOŚP is healthcare-related activity aimed at saving the lives of ill people, especially children, and working to improve their health, as well as promoting health and preventive healthcare. Therefore, on that day, the Medicus Diagnostic and Therapeutic Centre, together with the Regional Blood Donation Centre, will conduct a blood donation drive at Cuprum Arena Gallery. The DKMS Foundation will register potential bone marrow donors.
This noble cause has already encouraged public figures and institutions such as the following to take part in the campaign:
- athletes from the Zagłębie Miedziowe region: MKS Zagłębie Lubin S.A. – handball section; Zagłębie Lubin S.A. – football section; Cuprum Lubin – volleyball section; Miedziowi Lubin – rugby players; MKS Polkowice – CCC Polkowice women’s basketball team
- KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
- the city authorities.
During this event, we will also conduct a series of examinations and medical consultations directly related to the theme of the Finale. These will include:
- for children:
- allergy tests – food allergy and food intolerance; an atopy panel and a meeting with an allergist, consultations; a demonstration of hydrogen breath tests in the diagnosis of lactose and fructose intolerance; what asthma is and nitric oxide tests; consultations for parents on the importance of preventive vaccinations
- for seniors:
- geriatric treatment consultations
- diabetes prevention consultations
- Mini-Mental tests as an early method of detecting dementia syndromes.
We therefore appeal for support in all the initiatives undertaken by the Headquarters to achieve the aforementioned objective, and above all for the free donation of items to be put up for a charity auction accompanying the 23rd Orchestra Finale. All gifts will be accepted at the Cuprum Arena Management Office – 4th floor. The items donated for auction will be displayed at Cuprum Arena Gallery approximately two weeks before the Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
