The runners-up in the Betclic III League, Górnik Polkowice will face the runners-up in the Koleje Dolnośląskie IV League, Lechia Dzierżoniów, in the final. Both teams will compete at the modern stadium in Bolesławiec – Poland’s ceramics capital.
The final will be one of the key events connected with the celebrations of both the 80th anniversary of the Lower Silesian Football Association and milestone anniversaries for the local Bolesławiec community.
– In 2026, the 80th-anniversary celebrations in Bolesławiec will concern several events from the history of our city. I am pleased that the Lower Silesian Football Association, also as part of its own 80th anniversary, will organize the most important match of this season precisely in our city – says Piotr Roman, Mayor of Bolesławiec.
Polkowice making their final debut
Górnik Polkowice are absolute debutants at the provincial-final level of the JAXAN Polish Cup. Lechia Dzierżoniów have played in the final twice, in 2018 and 2022, and emerged victorious from the competition on both occasions.
– JWe are going to Bolesławiec with great belief, although we know that a difficult final awaits us – says Kamil Juraszek, Lechia Dzierżoniów captain. – We want to give the fans a reason to be proud. This is an exceptional match and a huge opportunity for us – he adds.
However, it is not Lechia but Górnik Polkowice who will be the favorites for this match.
– We worked hard to reach this final and defeated many demanding opponents along the way – says Piotr Pałaszewski, president of Górnik Polkowice. – We are aware of what we are playing for and want to bring this cup to Polkowice – says the Górnik president.
The competition in Bolesławiec will begin on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
Before the match, it is worth exploring Bolesławiec
Bolesławiec can be reached by Koleje Dolnośląskie train – Poland’s ceramics capital lies on a railway line served by the fastest regional trains in Poland; the fastest train from Wrocław takes just 1 hour and 1 minute!
It takes 10 minutes to walk from the railway station to the Municipal Stadium, but it is worth extending the walk to see, among other things, Bolesławiec’s old town with its 15th-century basilica and a town hall that is only slightly younger.
Bolesławiec’s old town is full of life because, besides the city’s residents, English can be heard everywhere in the market square – there are many NATO base facilities around Bolesławiec, and soldiers and civilian employees are happy to spend their afternoons in the center of Poland’s ceramics capital.
Bolesławiec is also home to one of Poland’s most beautiful engineering structures – the railway bridge over the Bóbr River; if you have even more time, it is worth visiting the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec.
The match at the Municipal Stadium in Bolesławiec will be played at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free until the attendance limit is reached.
The event will be broadcast by the Lower Silesian Football Association on its YouTube channel:
