First of all, cinema, where through Wednesday we are showing Andrzej Wajda’s “The Promised Land.” Screenings begin at 18:31. It is a true feast for film lovers: a Polish cinema classic awarded the Golden Lions and nominated for an Oscar, with magnificent music by Wojciech Kilar. Tickets cost only PLN 11.

On the following days of this week (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), the projectors at our PozaNova cinema will be working for students from Zgorzelec’s “Piątka,” “Emilka” and students of the Primary School in Pieńsk as part of the New Horizons of Film Education project.

We probably will not be revealing any secret by saying that rehearsals have been taking place in our auditorium for several weeks. The last one is scheduled for Tuesday, because on Wednesday there will already be the grand premiere of “Nativity Play,” performed by students of the “Tęcza” school in Zgorzelec. The curtain rises at 14:00.

On Thursday at 18:00, we invite you to an international discussion panel and exhibition guided by the themes of Civil Courage, Responsibility and Tolerance – yesterday and today. The panel will include, among others, Piotr Arcimowicz (Lusatian Museum in Zgorzelec), Waldemar Gruna (Region Europa) and Monika Kamphake (Association for the Promotion of the City of Culture Görlitz-Zgorzelec). The discussion will be moderated by Grzegorz Żak. Thursday’s meeting is part of a series combining a documentary screening with a discussion panel, intended to inspire local residents to maintain and develop awareness and social responsibility, civil courage and tolerance. The exhibition will feature approximately 50 exhibits presenting the actions of people who risked their lives to save Jews during German fascism.

From Friday, we invite you back to PozaNova cinema for a new film. This time it will be another Polish classic, “It Is Necessary to Kill That Love,” directed by Janusz Morgenstern and starring Jadwiga Jankowska-Cieślak, Jan Englert and Andrzej Malec. Screenings begin at 18:31. Tickets cost PLN 14 and PLN 12.

On Friday, we will also have a piano tuner under the green dome... Not without reason! On Sunday, we invite everyone to an extraordinary Christmas piano concert by the outstanding Zgorzelec pianist Justyna Chmielowiec. The concert begins at 18:00, and the programme will include works by F. Chopin, M. Ravel and R. Schumann, among others. Admission is free! We invite you, because it really is worth attending!
