At the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Zamkowy Square, an evening concert and a recitation of "Roman Triptych," written by John Paul II, were among the events organized. A special Mass was held at the Sanctuary on Kościelna Street.
Bolesławiec residents commemorated the anniversary of the Polish pope’s death mainly in churches. Unlike last year, there were not thousands of lit candles on John Paul II Street. Several dozen candles were burning in front of the monument.
