This coming Saturday, November 8, at 12:15 p.m., Kino Forum will screen “My Mommy Is in America and She Met Buffalo Bill”. It will be an exceptional animated film—not only because of its visual layer, but also because of its subject matter, concerning problems in a child’s life and coming to terms with the news of the death of someone close.

The film, which has received numerous awards at children’s festivals, addresses difficult yet extremely important topics in an extraordinary way adapted to the age of young viewers. “Jean is cared for by a nanny and a busy father. The boy does not know that his mother is dead. His loved ones lead him to believe that she is away on a trip. To prevent the truth from coming out, Jean’s friend sends him postcards. Pretending to be his mother, the girl describes holiday adventures and situations full of incredible events. Jean starts school and faces new problems. In time, he must also come to terms with the sad truth about his mother’s death. A film for the whole family. A story about relationships between children and adults, friendship, and the challenges facing the youngest.”

Children’s films will be screened as part of the “Kids on the Horizon – in Cinemas” programme, a continuation of the “Kino Dzieci” festival. Some of the films shown at the festival will be released in cinemas throughout Poland. Each month, another title for children aged 5–9 will premiere in several dozen selected cinemas. At Kino Forum, the films will be presented as part of the “Morning Encore” series. Screenings will take place every second Saturday of the month and will mainly feature European films, quality Polish fairy tales, and traditionally animated films that have received awards at children’s film festivals.
