The presentation of the Transparent Poland certificates took place on Saturday at the headquarters of Gazeta Wyborcza in Warsaw. Bolesławiec was among 38 local governments in Lower Silesia whose offices were awarded certificates. Bolesławiec City Hall completed tasks corresponding to six principles of good governance: transparency, combating corruption, public participation, predictability, professionalism and accountability. The certificate on behalf of the city was accepted by Mariusz Herba, Head of the City Hall’s Organizational Department.

The Transparent Poland campaign is conducted by Gazeta Wyborcza with the support of the Agora Foundation, the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, the Anti-Corruption Program of the Stefan Batory Foundation, the Foundation in Support of Local Democracy, the Centre for Citizenship Education and the World Bank.

The aim of the Transparent Poland campaign is to promote honesty and effectiveness in local governments. This is intended to contribute to improving the quality of public life and stimulating civic activity.
