This programme, which has been implemented for many years, provides a platform for cooperation between local-government bodies and institutions, uniformed services, municipal services, security companies, organisations and associations, and housing cooperatives in the field of public safety. It is implemented by teams dealing, among other things, with increasing the safety of people and property, preventing social pathologies, combating juvenile delinquency and creating safe infrastructure.
The Programme Council, attended by the heads of the services, meets several times a year. Its meetings are chaired by President Tadeusz Krzakowski. Friday’s meeting was devoted to adopting the action plan for 2015.
“Legnica residents value investments that increase their safety in various areas above all else. Nearly 70 per cent of residents express this view,” stressed Tadeusz Krzakowski, citing the results of a recent survey. “Attention to various aspects of the safety of the city and its residents is also a permanent element of the draft Legnica Development Strategy for 2015–2020 Plus, which the Legnica City Council will consider at its next session,” the president added.
The tasks for 2015 to be carried out by the signatories of the Agreement include, among other things, reducing ordinary crime; making full use of the city’s video-monitoring capabilities; organising preventive and preventative campaigns in various communities, such as among children, young people and seniors; organising tactical and firefighting exercises and training by fire service units; systematic road-safety and fire-safety inspections; ensuring public order; combating social pathologies, drug addiction, alcoholism and juvenile delinquency; continuing to create safe and modern road infrastructure; building an integrated traffic and public transport management system; and ensuring sanitary and environmental safety, for example by eliminating illegal dumps.
