Wearing reflective elements by pedestrians is intended to improve road safety. We wrote about this, among other things, in the article Up to PLN 500 fine for not wearing a reflector. Last year, more than 1,000 people died in road accidents. That is one-third of all road fatalities in Poland.

Until now, the use of reflective elements was mandatory only for pedestrians under the age of 15 walking along the roadside. Now this obligation will apply to all pedestrians walking along the roadside in an area without buildings. When it gets dark, each of them should have any reflective element so as to be clearly visible to drivers.

The Wójt of Gmina Rudna provided funds to purchase reflective elements for the residents of the Gmina. The reflectors will be distributed free of charge at public-use facilities:

  • Chobieński Cultural Centre
  • Cultural Centre in Rudna
  • School and Preschool Complex in Chobienia
  • John Paul II School Complex in Rudna.

They will also be distributed by police officers from the police station in Rudna during preventive operations.
