Dariusz Miliński is a painter who can say of himself that he is a hen laying golden eggs. His paintings are sold like hot cakes during openings at the most prestigious galleries. At Piwnica Paryska, during an author meeting, he talked about his autobiographical book "Born in a Cemetery".
The painter spoke openly, with great self-distance and enormous charisma, about his own fame, success, artistic fulfillment and appetite for life. He talked about his childhood, when, as an Indian, he hunted chickens in the forest while running away from home to avoid punishment for truancy or poor grades. He also talked about his lack of experience with girls whom he had fallen madly in love with, but to whom he sent signals that were too timid. "I stole chocolate for the girl I loved, gave it to her under the desk, and she gobbled up the chocolate and still didn't love me," the artist said with a smile.
"I work my ass off because the world wants me!" the painter and author says bluntly. And it isn't off-putting—it is sincere and fresh. There is a man in Poland who enjoys good health, success and family like a child. This takes one's breath away in times when it is better to complain while doing nothing, and certainly to keep quiet about having achieved something! A must-attend meeting for malcontents and pessimists.
