At Wednesday’s meeting, directors from MZGK, a delegation from the Wrocław-based company Presko, and guests from municipal utilities companies in Lwówek Śląski and Lubań were present. The discussion concerned a special container mounted on the chassis of a trailer that had already been part of the Municipal Utilities Company’s equipment. Originally, the trailer was intended to transport waste to a transfer station. However, this did not happen because the construction and operation of the station were protested by people living near the construction site. To make full use of the trailer, the company came up with the idea of rebuilding it. “A dump trailer became an immediate necessity, so we contacted Presko,” says Wiesław Rataj, MZGK’s technical director. “Our main goal was to obtain equipment that would save the time needed for loading and unloading,” adds Wiesław Rataj.
The path from the idea to its implementation was not a long one. After consulting with the Bolesławiec company, Presko representatives designed and built a dump trailer which, according to MZGK’s directors, has already proven itself in practice. “The current distance to the waste landfill is 20 km. Thanks to this modified trailer, operating costs will decrease, which is highly important as the company adapts to market conditions and competition,” explains Władysław Bakalarz, MZGK’s director for Investments and Environmental Protection.
After a presentation of the activities of MZGK and Presko, the meeting participants learned how the dump trailer operates and toured the Waste Treatment Facility in Trzebień.
